We booked to stay in the Auchrannie Resort which is a fantastic (and luxurious) springboard from which to get out and see the Isle. On Friday, we took the ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick and as you can probably tell from the image below (of Ardrossan harbour), it looked like we might get the worst of the weather.

The isle was absolutely beautiful, and having travelled as far north as we could we found Lochranza Castle (below) and although it wasn't the best weather there were one or two breaks in the cloud.

We hoped to see some seals and had heard that if we carried on 'round to Kildonan we might see some (we didn't) but by this time the weather had really closed in and we headed back to Brodick for dinner.

Saturday was much brighter, we were able to visit Brodick Castle (below) and it's grounds and take some time explore the island a little further, but returned to Auchrannie quite early as we were booked for a meal in their restaurant "eighteen 69" - highly recommended - a sumptious meal with fantastic service.

The weather returned to it's usual west-coast rain on sunday, so we toured the top of the island (mainly from the comfy seat of the car) a little more before heading back to catch the ferry. Well, I did venture out of the car once or twice but the weather wasn't great (although the rivers were full and gave me one or two photo opportunities)
